Melissa Sandusky |
Flute
Melissa Sandusky is a flute instructor, performer, and band director. She received a music scholarship to UCF where she studied with Dr. Nora Lee Garcia and received a Bachelors of Music Education. While at UCF, Melissa was able to study with great flute players such as James Galway, Paul Edmond-Davies (1st Flute, London Symphony Orchestra), Mary Karen Clardy (University of North Texas), Michel Debost (Oberlin Conservatory), and Robert Dick (1st Flute, Chicago Symphony Orchestra). She was a co-instructor for two years in the UCF Summer Flute Institute. Within months of graduating from UCF she became Band Director at Howard Middle School, where she has been for the past three years. Melissa has performed in many production shows across Central Florida. She has taught privately for 5 years and has had many successful students who have performed in FSYO, FYAO, All-County Band (Seminole and Orange), and All-State Band. Melissa also founded and conducts a student flute choir that rehearses at High Note Music and performs across Central Florida. She is also a member of the National Flute Association and the Florida Flute Association.
